The familiar tale of match domination, neglected opportunity and ultimately squandered points is not a popular one with coach Roger Hardwicke.

Against fourth-placed Kingborough, City controlled most of the match, took a deserved and stunning lead before switching off late and losing 2-1.

The tale of City's frustrating campaign is evident from a ladder which shows them having lost seven out of eight games but only registering a -10 goal difference.

"I'm bitterly disappointed for the lads because for 85 minutes they've put in a hard shift which would normally win a game but we've walked off with no points," Hardwicke said.

"In the first half, both teams had chances, we scored a great goal and were deservedly 1-0 up.

"We knew they would come out hard and managed that well. We were controlling it without feeling too threatened and then five minutes of switching off, a couple of silly passes and we've been caught.

"This only means something if we learn from it."

City stuck with the frontline of Noah Mies and Alex Rossetto, supported by English housemates Rob Gerrard and Sam Ridgard and it was another gem from their skipper that put them ahead.

Comfortably leading City's scoring in the league, Ridgard took one touch to control and a second to volley home from outside the box on 27 minutes.

Ridgard should have had a second just before the break but headed over when Jarrod Linger's cross deserved a finish.

Rossetto, Gerrard and Mies also squandered chances to kill the game off before the wheels fell off.

Adam McKeown did all the damage, accepting Davis Bryan's delightful pass to level the scores before stealing the points four minutes from time from a perfect Chris Downes free-kick which caught the City defence napping.
