Public Health Services announced on Friday afternoon that from September 17 premises used for sports, recreation, physical activity and wellness, will not be required to be staffed at all times when they are open.
Gyms will now be included in WorkSafe Tasmania's inspection register for improved public health measures.
The inspections are completed to ensure businesses are adhering to public health requirements.

A public health spokesman said gym owners and operators had been sent information to remind them of COVID-safe workplace guidelines.
Worksafe Tasmania has developed these guidelines in discussion with industry body Fitness Australia and individual gym owners.
Gyms were closed back in March due to the coronavirus.
In Tasmania, gym owners and operators were allowed to reopen from June 17 under strict guidelines.
Last week Premier Peter Gutwein said public health authorities viewed gyms as high risk.
At the same press conference, Public Health director Mark Veitch indicated changes were on the way.
"We are going to make the changes but we need the gyms to agree to enhanced cleaning," Dr Veitch said at the time.
