Stripped of virtually all its major sporting events in 2020, the state is believed to be a serious chance of hosting a block of BBL fixtures when borders reopen in December.
UTAS Stadium has hosted two BBL matches a season since drawing 16,734 to its maiden fixture in 2017-18, but could be in line for a bigger slice of the pie this season.
Days after Hurricanes coach Adam Griffith voiced a desire to see BBL10 begin in Tasmania, City of Launceston mayor Albert Van Zetten joined the chorus.

"The City of Launceston holds discussions with Cricket Tasmania every year around Big Bash content at University of Tasmania Stadium," Van Zetten said.
"The idea that has been floated of Tasmania hosting a Big Bash hub certainly sounds exciting, and one that the council would welcome and support.
"As a venue manager, we're always looking for ways to bring new or additional sporting events to UTAS Stadium, and our door is always open to anyone who is interested in talking to us.
"But ultimately, that's a decision for Cricket Australia and Cricket Tasmania in consultation with the state government."
Save for a 1250-person limit trialled at a North Hobart TSL match earlier this month, crowds at community sport have been capped at 500 since resuming in July.
Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein has discussed the possibility of UTAS and Bellerive Oval hosting a quarter of their capacity for bigger events, equating to around 5000 people, while Adelaide Oval's AFL limit recently increased to 15000 spectators.
Van Zetten said the council would take state government direction regarding crowd limits should BBL matches come Launceston's way.
Tasmania's BBL fate will have ramifications for cricket statewide, with Cricket Tasmania Premier League and Cricket North waiting on ground availabilities to finalise their rosters, which are set to begin in early October.
The BBL season will start on December 3.
