Since round two's loss to Launceston the Northern Bombers have assembled a perfect cycle of six wins and will finish top of the table should they complete the season's remainder undefeated.

Taylor Whitford's side had 31 scoring shots to North Hobart's 10 last weekend and despite inaccurate kicking, the five-time premiership star liked what he saw.

"I thought in terms of the brand, it was getting very close to the North Launceston brand," he said.

"To kick 20 points puts a little bit of a dampener on it - that probably isn't going to cut the mustard come finals time, so it gives us something to work on."

The Roos have been the surprise packet of the season to date and sit just percentage off third spot.

A season which began with being booted from Bellerive Oval has gone on to feature a successful temporary relocation to Richmond Oval, keeping Launceston and Glenorchy to 1.10 (16) and 1.7 (13) respectively and coming within 15 points of the reigning premier at UTAS Stadium.

"We've played them before out here and they were really good," Whitford said.

"They probably kicked away in the end and could have won the game - they had some momentum late and they're going to be a really hard side to beat at a ground we haven't played at before.

"They train there, they know the ground, we don't - none of the boys have really seen it, we can only go from what we've seen in footage.

"From what I can tell it's got one scoring end where the wind flows through and it's pretty hard to score at the top end, that's probably been the trend from games thus far."

The Roos have been forced into making a whopping seven changes to the side that upset Lauderdale last week with coach Jeromey Webberley and veteran Clint Riley among the outs.

Tassie Devils Baker Smith, Sam Banks, Oliver Davis, Darcy Gardner and Noah Holmes will all play for Guilford Young College in the SATIS football grand final with Chris Nield among the inclusions.

Webberley backed his side to play "the Clarence way" despite the mass changes.

"I think our best footy's pretty good, but obviously when we're a little bit off we seem to struggle a fair bit," he said.

"It's a really good opportunity for us to test ourselves against the best - until someone can roll them on the big day in October this year they're still the number one team to beat.

"I think the style of play they're playing is really solid - they're really good in contested ball and stoppage and locking the ball at their end.

"We know their system of play is going to stand up in finals - it has for a long period of time so it's really good opportunity for us to get them out to Richmond where none of them have played before, throw everything at them and see where we land.

"We had a really good result last week playing Lauderdale but we need to make sure we back it up this week."

Saturday's game starts at 1.30pm at Richmond.
