The announcement means that the state's new team, which is scheduled to compete in the 2021-22 season, will either be called the Mountaineers, Tridents, Pride or Jack Jumpers.
The shortlist will be further narrowed down in the coming weeks before the final reveal on October 1, when fans will be able to purchase foundation memberships.
"There's been some fantastic debate since we announced the shortlist of names for the new team last week," Team Tasmania chief executive Simon Brookhouse said.
"It seems everyone has an opinion on the names we revealed and it shows how passionate fans are."
The team's brand will be created by Victorian design agency SouthSouthWest, which is spearheaded by former Tasmania School of Art graduate Andy Sargent.
