As well as being Hydro Tasmania's chief asset manager, Mr Albertini also worked as the company's chief operations officer for nine years.
In that role he oversaw Hydro Tasmania's power infrastructure portfolio.
"Since commencing here as a young teenager I have had a fascination with renewable energy and having stewardship over Tasmania's iconic hydropower infrastructure is an enormous privilege," Mr Albertini said.
"The challenges are many and the opportunity to drive Hydro Tasmania's next chapter is invigorating."
In other news:
Mr Albertini relieved outgoing Hydro Tasmania chief executive of seven years Steve Davy from the position, after Mr Davy announced he would not seek reappointment in March.
Hydro Tasmania chairman Grant Every-Burns commended Mr Davy on his 15 years of overall work with the company.
In particular, he cited Mr Davy's work in driving the Battery of the Nation project.
Mr Every-Burns said Mr Albertini's extensive work with hydropower would hold him in good stead in taking on the next stages involving the Battery of the Nation.
