It took about six minutes for the Cavs to get into gear, then there was no stopping them on both sides of the ball.

This was aided by a ruthlessly efficient transition game against winless Devon. Head coach Dan Roden said it was a fantastic team effort after the loss to the Northern Hawks in round 10.

"We've got a certain structure we want to play and the idea was to play to that for four quarters," Roden said.

"We also wanted to look at some combinations and we did that and I think from a defensive point of view, the whole team executed what we wanted to for four quarters."

While it was a dominant performance all round, Roden said it was great to see shooter Hayley McDougall return to form after a four-week absence due to a leg injury.

He also cited the continuing growth of under-19 keeper Monique Dufty who relished another opportunity to play in the opens.

"The key to this team is our speed and ability to move the ball through the court and I felt they did that really well," he said.

"When we keep the court balanced and move the ball quickly it's harder for the defence to set up - I think that's definitely a major part of the game and our transition attack today was fantastic."

However, the game wasn't devoid of trouble for the Cavs, with defender Dana Lester going down late in the first quarter with an apparent lower leg injury.

Roden said the extent of the damage wouldn't be known until Monday, but he was optimistic that Lester would be able to return for the final two rounds.

The Cavaliers now head into a much-needed bye week after a bumpy six-week stretch.

Roden said it would serve as a good chance to build momentum heading into the finals.
