Tasmania Police has arrested a George Town man after he allegedly hit two marked police cars in separate incidents.

The first incident was alleged to have occurred at 4.30am on Saturday after police responded to a burglary in progress.
Sergeant Ben Kronkamp said upon arriving to an address on Bettina Road police allegedly found the man in a silver Honda Accord.

He said the man allegedly drove at the marked police car before evading police.
The second incident allegedly took place just after 10.30am on Saturday. Sergeant Kronkamp said police on patrol near the vehicle near Anderson Road, George Town.
He said the man then allegedly drove at police again hitting the marked car.
The police rescue helicopter helped coordinate a search which led to a vehicle being discovered in bushland near Mount Pleasant. A man was located nearby and taken into custody about 3.30pm Saturday.
North-East Division Inspector Adam Mollineaux thanked the public for their assistance in the matter.
"Information received from the public assisted us greatly to locate this individual," he said.
"While this individual did not pose a physical threat to the community, his manner of driving was of great concern to police."
"The man is currently assisting police with our enquiries."
Anyone who may have seen a silver Honda sedan, registration number A98FP, or who may have dash cam footage of it being driven in the George Town / Mount Direction areas is still asked to contact police on 131 444. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
