Andrew Cox-Goodyer's men are sitting a game clear of Deloraine before they have their bye in round nine and the Tigers leader is pleased with their showing so far.

"Some of our younger boys have stepped up to the occasion and putting the games into them has proven its worth already," he said.

"OLs are another team we haven't played against before - another unknown - but we will take in the same attitude we had against Deloraine and we should go alright."

Blues coach Laine Cleaver liked his side's output for the first quarter against Bridgenorth before things went downhill and is looking to maintain that effort against the league's newly-crowned top dogs.

"Like all clubs, they've got a good solid spine but there's some players that aren't as strong, so it's a matter of us being consistent on their good players and trying to exploit their not-so-strong players," he said.

"Obviously it's not going to be an easy task, they are a premier league side well coached by Andrew Cox-Goodyer so we will see how we go."

SCOTTSDALE host Deloraine under lights for the first time since their state-of-the-art upgrade and captain Joe Robinson is looking forward to it.

"We will hopefully get our coach [Ethan Petterwood] back for this one and there will be a few people there," he said.

"They are probably one of, if not the in-form team in the competition. I think they got rolled last week, so Lochy Dornauf will have them up and about."

Opposing coach Dornauf, who did suffer his first defeat at the helm last weekend, shared the excitement, describing the occasion as "not the norm".

"We are going to pick a team that will be a lot more experienced from last week," he said.

"We welcome back Matty O'Donoghue - centre half-back - Tyson Gardam our full forward as well, so that really shores us up through the spine."

OLD SCOTCH have beaten two premier division sides this year and get the chance to add to their winning ways against Meander Valley.

Over the moon with their performance in co-captain Alec Fotheringham's 150^th, coach Brayley Coombes is still wary of the Suns.

"From all reports in their last couple of games, they've been really competitive in the first half, so we just need to come with the right attitude to ensure that we get off to a good start and hopefully we can walk away with the four points," he said.

Suns coach Damien Rhind has seen improvement throughout the competition, labeling his side as consistently good for half a game.

"We want to play more than half a game - we've proved we can mix it with anyone we play but if we can at least play three quarters, it should put us in the mix at some stage," he said.

After three consecutive losses, BRACKNELL coach Andrew Philpott is desperate to get back on the winners' list against UTAS.

Dropping matches to Rocherlea, Scottsdale and Old Scotch - all by under 10 points - the experienced Redlegs leader needs a win.

"Taking nothing away from the last three opponents, but the games have been there to win and we haven't taken the opportunity," he said.

"I have enough experience in the team, we're playing some kids in the team I get that, but there's enough experience and we can't finish off."

Despite his outfit occasionally struggling to compete with the top-tier teams, UTAS coach Brodie Tiernan has been super impressed with his players' attitude on the park.

"Even though we are getting touched up every week, players are still turning up to training and they want to learn, they want to get better and that's what they are all there for," he said.
