"It must mean I'm getting old," said the dependable forward who is set to become the first player to reach 150 games since the rebirth of a state league.
"I remember when myself and Pat Lanau-Atkinson at Northern Rangers played our 100th games on the same day and had not taken much notice about it since then.
"But 150th? Craziness. It is strange to think that I've played the most."
Campbell, who turned 30 in July, played 121 games at Launceston City, winning back-to-back best and fairest awards in 2017 and 2018 and the 2016 golden boot, and will play his 29th game for Riverside Olympic against South Hobart on Saturday.
Remarkably, he has missed just eight games since the start of the competition in 2013.
Hobart Zebras' Jayden Hey is next on the appearance list with 141.
"It's a very strange feeling to think that nobody has played more but I'm sure there are a couple more guys that have been in the league since it started that are not far behind. Guys like Nick Morton and Kieran Mulraney would have played a fair few, and Joel Stone.
"It is something to be proud of I guess.
"I've kept at it and am pretty determined so it would be nice to finish on a high because I'm not sure if I'm going to go around again next year or not."
