The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall on the North East and East Coast of Tasmania on Sunday.
BoM has also issued a Flood Watch for the northern, eastern and southeast river catchments, which will be responsive to the additional rainfall predicted.
A Minor Flood Warning has been issued for the North Esk, Jordan, Coal and Macquarie rivers and a moderate Flood Warning is in place for the South Esk River.
Overnight, Tasmania's central coast received about 20-30mm of rainfall, according to BoM.
About 20-40mm has been predicted for eastern areas of the state as well as possible thunderstorms this afternoon.
In other news:
BoM has indicated that thunderstorms are most likely to remain offshore, however heavier falls are possible to extend on the coast as a result.
Easterly winds are expected to generate large waves on the East Coast on Sunday, with seas reaching six metres in that area.
Tasmania Police has also closed Ansons Bay Road due to flooding at the causeway.
Police have also cautioned drivers accessing Rosedale Road due water over the road and the Tasman Highway near Paradise Gorge which has debris washed onto it.
