Teachers at Launceston Grammar School have asked the Independent Education Union to conduct a survey to gauge staff morale as unrest at the prestigious school continues.

Last week 80 staff members passed a third motion of no-confidence in the school headmaster Richard Ford and demanded that the school board remove him.
However, the board has backed Mr Ford.

Assistant secretary David Brear said a meeting of the IEU sub branch at Launceston Grammar met on Thursday night.
"Staff are furious over the response of the school board to their recent motion," Mr Brear said.
"They say that staff morale is at an all time low and that this is essentially a staff welfare issue and that the board should act.
"Members at the meeting requested that the union arrange for a Workplace Health Staff Welfare survey be conducted of staff and that a report of that survey's findings be commissioned and sent to the board."
"It is really unusual for staff to pass such strong motions against their school leadership, but at this school its happened three times. The board should be asking why."
Mr Brear said teachers were bitterly disappointed that a culture survey the school promised to carry out earlier in the year turned out to be a whitewash.
"It was supposed to be warts and all but it wasn't," Mr Brear said.
A teacher who contacted The Examiner said the culture survey paid lip service to teacher's concerns.
"It was a missed opportunity so teachers have now voted to conduct their own survey," the teacher said.
