The 11-year-old gelding is in the final stages of a career that has so far netted $105,975 over 85 races, including 10 wins and 33 top-three finishes.
He will jump from barrier two in the opening race of the day, a Benchmark 66 Handicap over 1880 metres, and while the Bill Ryan-trained Sh'bourne Renegade looks hard to beat, Trinder said a drop in weight will suit Spihro.
"A couple of starts back he carried 64kg over a mile and ran second, but with the apprentices claim, he drops back to 56kg which is to his advantage and he is a winner twice over the 1880m trip," he said.
"You could put him in to run a nice second, but if you start getting ambitious with an 11-year-old you are probably tugging at a few coat strings.
"If he happened to win in this final preparation I think he would have a giggle in the paddock afterwards at his younger siblings."
The feature race on the card will be an Open Handicap for the sprinters over 1150m, where a good battle is expected between Scott Brunton's three runners, Ruettiger, I Remember You and Uber Ed, and Gee Gee Secondover from the Leon, Dean and Trent Wells stable.
Gee Gee Secondover's last start came at Flemington over 1000m, where he ran a credible fifth.
