The only way the time at North Launceston could be extended further past this season is should the AFL abandon its draft this year and lift the NAB League up to an under-19 competition next year after the pandemic has all but prevented travel for and with Victorian sides.

Northern Bombers teammates otherwise realise the pure centre half-forward will be on the radar of AFL clubs.

"If the draft is this year, he won't be here next year," ruckman Alex Lee declared.

So impressive has Callow been that he was a walk-up start into the Bombers' grand final team last year after just two previous TSL games and still only 16 years of age.

That comes on the back of a Tasmania Devils' debut as one of their youngest players.

"He is building every week. This is something that he has set for himself," Lee said.

"So I wouldn't be surprised if he comes home with a couple of bags this year."

Callow was adjudged best afield in the side's 26-point win at Lauderdale in the TSL player-of-the-year award.

He just nudged out Lauderdale's Josh McGuiness and Lee himself for votes.

The 194cm Callow played up forward in the first and third quarters on Saturday before rolling back into the defence when coach Taylor Whitford asked for the flexibilty to fill a hole under the ball against the intimidating Lauderdale presence.

"I think this has been great exposure for him, especially with the Devils not going ahead this year," Lee said.

Dylan Riley also impressed on Saturday, scoring back-to-back best on grounds for Launceston at North Hobart.

The elusive forward again kicked four goals for the second successive encounter to prove the difference in the low-scoring, three-point win.

Riley claimed the top votes from North Hobart gun Troy Cunliffe and Blues teammate Fletcher Seymour.

Tigers' star Kieran Lovell was the clear standout player in his side's opening victory of their TSL campaign.
