This month, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia will be hosting a series of free workshops aimed at helping older Tasmanians build their online health literacy skills.
PGA Tasmania branch president John Dowling said more support was needed to ensure seniors were equipped to use technology to stay connected, particularly through telehealth consultations with GPs and allied health professionals.

"Community pharmacies see a lot of older Tasmanians and through our daily interactions we know that the way rapid advancements in technology is changing how we and other health professionals interact with them, is causing some trepidation," he said.
"We know that there is a desire for more education and information to help those that aren't so familiar with technology to build the skills and confidence to get the most out of the digital environment."
The workshops are being held in Launceston, Burnie and Devonport during August, with all COVID-19 requirements in place.
Sessions will also focus on MyHealth Records and recent changes to e-prescriptions.
