Launceston City clocked up a fourth straight loss - 2-0 at Kingborough - while Riverside imploded late on to go down 5-1 to a previously pointless Olympia side.
Without Rob Gerrard and Gedi Krusa in their midfield, City gave starts to Nick Thorne, Stefan Tantari and Mason Gardner against a Lions side orchestrated by City old boy Shane Cartwright.
The hosts dominated early at Lightwood Park and eventually took the lead just before the half-hour mark through a scrambled Adam McKeown effort.
City were beginning to find their feet, with Jarrod Linger firing their best chance wide, only for Jez Kenth's side to double their advantage at the start of the second half when James Hall found a way past Daniel Nash.
Continuing to deputise for the injured Lachie Clark, Nash was doing his best to keep the score down, producing his best work to deny Keenan Douce while Chris Downes also struck the crossbar.
City continued to find goals hard to come by with substitute James Hawes curling their best chance wide late on.
Having scored their winner in last week's Northern derby, Aaron Kidmas replaced injured import Luca Vigilante for Riverside at Olympia.
The teams exchanged woodwork lessons in the first half with Jack Ryan twice hitting the crossbar while Fletcher Fulton headed a Nil Sanz cross onto a post.
Nick Mearns eventually found the target when he nodded in a corner and Declan Brown added a second after Olympic keeper Jarrod Hill had denied Ryan.
Alex Gaetani's side was thrown a lifeline in the 70th minute when Fulton was pulled down and Sanz dispatched the resulting penalty.
However, Warriors hit back immediately, Ben Hamlett delivering the drama after Ryan had been thwarted by Jasper King's goalline clearance.
There was still time for Hill's penalty-saving record to take a hit as the hosts were awarded two late spot-kicks, both of which were dispatched by Ryan.
The result was enough to see City drop to the bottom of the ladder.
A superb Eddie Bidwell solo effort midway through the second half saw champions Devonport continue their 100 per cent start to the league season with a 1-0 win over South Hobart. With ruthless efficiency, the Strikers have just a +4 goal difference having recorded four straight one-goal victories.
In the late match, a hat-trick to Tom Young helped Glenorchy to a 5-2 win over Clarence at KGV.
Matt Pace and Alex Walter also netted for the Knights with Nick Naden and Jake Thompson earning their stripes for Zebras.
