Across the North, training sessions continued as normal with participants doing their best to ignore their unusually white surroundings.
There were few braver souls than Launceston Aquatic Club's gold squad members who were treated to a "fun session" by head coach Peter Tonkin which included snow deposits on their kick boards.
"The club has only recently returned to training after the COVID-19 break, and not even snow could keep these keen swimmers away from the pool," reported LAC president Amanda Mitchell.
Among the first to experience the chilly reception were users of Prospect Park on Tuesday evening.
A flurry of social media posts showed assorted Launceston City teams braving the conditions along with the message: "We know football is a winter sport, but training in the snow is definitely a rare occurrence!"
Prospect Hawks were also waving the white flag with a video of players training next door and the words: "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
Evandale footy club delivered a similar forecast on Facebook while the word "hardcore" was used to accompany Rowing Tasmania's Instagram post which showed its TIS members trudging through the snow for a dawn session on the Tamar.
Ironically, one of the sporting sessions that was a victim of the weather was indoor.
Launceston City Cycling Club reported: "We might be Covid free but it seems our favourite track doesn't like being in a snow globe. Snow has caused the Silverdome roof to leak ... a lot."
The club hopes to return to the venue next week.
