Both have gone on to make finals every year, with the Northern Bombers winning all three flags.

This year it's the odd coupling of preliminary finalist Launceston and wooden-spooner North Hobart who sit one and two ahead of a round five clash in the state's South.

The Demons have made a bright start to 2020, falling just short of reigning premier North Launceston in round one before downing Kingborough and Lauderdale.

Fresh from the bye, the Demons can secure their best start since 2011 should they overcome the 4-0 Blues on Saturday - a feat coach Richard Robinson believes is easier said than done.

"They're a very good side - they've got good players on every line," Robinson said.

"Jake Smith down back is an exceptional defender, their midfield bats very deep and up forward they've got plenty of avenues to goal.

'They're a pretty experienced side too now, you've got guys have played in TSL premierships, guys that have won the Tassie Medal in [Tim] Bristow, guys that played SANFL, NEAFL,- they've got depth on every line and they're just a classy side."

The Blues' contested ball work has been second to none so far this season, with Jobi Harper, Jay Blackberry and Jared Dakin all impressing in the midfield.

Robinson will task Troy Cunliffe and VFL pair Baxter Norton and Jack Sandric with ensuring the Blues midfield can't gather easy touches.

"I just think we've got to put as much heat and pressure around the ball as we can, because if you give their mids too much isolation it'll make it pretty tough for our defenders to stop [Dylan] Riley, [Mitch] Thorp, [Jake] Hinds, [Michael] Musicka, Alec Wright," he said.

"If we don't put enough pressure on we'll get cut apart, so our big focus is bringing heat and matching Launny around the ball."

The recipient of the TSL's past two wooden spoons, North Hobart hasn't made finals since 2011 but appears to be starting the 2020s decade in the right way.

"Obviously we haven't had much success in the last period so there's plenty of people at the footy we haven't seen for a while coming back," Robinson said.

"With the [COVID restrictrions] it's great the games are streamed.

"We've got a lot of members and supporters and ex-players in Melbourne and they're obviously doing it really tough at the moment, so it's just been nice that they're sending a few messages saying they're enjoying watching us of a Saturday afternoon.

"But it's only three games in - our sole focus is Launny this week and we're not looking any further ahead than that."
