Originally signalling his intentions to step down at last season's end, Whyte has found a new purpose as the league looks to introduce a points system over the coming seasons to even out the competition.

He says that, as well as maintaining the quality and quantity of teams in the premier league competition, was enough to put his hand up once again.

"It's always been my goal since we brought it in - the premier league - to get it to eight teams and leave it at eight teams," he said.

"We got it there once and it's been a struggle to keep teams in there, that's why we'd like to bring the points system in.

"There's three associations that use it, it took them three years to implement it properly and it works better than a salary cap."

Jason Savage, who the competition's best and fairest medal is named after, was also re-elected as vice president for the 2020-21 season but will this year be joined by Scott Frankcombe, who fills the role previously held by John Wegman.

Wegman served on the committee for the past eight seasons and has retired from his TCL role alongside long-serving member Denis Hume.

Rhonda Whitmore and Charmaine Whyman are set to fill the secretary and treasurer roles respectively while Simon Humphries and Corey Martin will sit on the general committee, which still has two vacant positions with any TCL member eligible.
