Returning to State League following a 105-game AFL career, Green missed round one with a broken nose following a training mishap but played in last weekend's thumping of Glenorchy.

Saturday will see the 27-year-old play at UTAS Stadium for the first time since a Hawthorn-Brisbane clash in 2015 when he kicked two goals from 19 touches.

"In eight weeks' time I think we'll be seeing the best of Josh Green," Webberley said.

"But you're going to have to put a good player on him because if you don't he'll cut you to pieces.

"He had a really good player in Zac Webster playing on him [last Saturday] - a couple of ex-AFL blokes going head to head - but he's going to build every week.

"I thought he was serviceable in his first game and he gives the group a bit of a lift - he's a real competitive little fella and I think he gave us a lift in that area."

Percentage only off bottom last season, the Roos' 78-point victory last round marked their biggest winning margin since 2017.

Webberley conceded the reigning premiers loom as a much tougher prospect than injury-hit Glenorchy, but said his young side would go in confident.

"This week's going to be extremely hard, but we take some confidence out of knowing if we bring the right intent with our ball movement and our ability to win the contest and defend well, it gives us an opportunity to score and put on scoreboard pressure," Webberley said.

Shooting for a four-peat, the Northern Bombers are yet to hit their usual heights two games in but coach Taylor Whitford is unperturbed.

"It's not about fixing everything at once and nothing's broken per se, it's just about improving different areas. [The key is] what areas need to be improved now and what areas need to be improved as we're going along the year," he said.

"Hopefully by the end of the year we're at a stage where we're playing our best footy."
