Tasmanian Police are investigating a deliberately lit house fire on Agnes Street at George Town.

The Tasmanian Fire Service received multiple calls to the house about 6:30 pm last night.
Police said when the TFS arrived the front bedroom of the house was alight.
In other news:
"The fire was extinguished quickly but significant fire and smoke damage was caused throughout the house," police said.
"Tasmania Police Forensic Services and a Tasmania Fire Service Fire Investigator attended and examined the scene this morning."
Damage to the house is estimated to be in excess of $150,000.
