The Jungle Giants and Yacht Club DJs will instead help Tasmania celebrate New Year's Eve on the Hobart waterfront this year, with further artists to be announced.
Vandemonian Touring will host a three-day ticketed music event from December 29-31 at the Goods Shed, alongside an evening NYE free event featuring local music at the Regatta Grounds.
Additional artists for the 29th and 30th will be announced soon.
The event is yet to be named but director Brendan Self said he was thrilled to put together such a strong line-up despite the lack of international artists.
"With the void created by the cancellation of the Falls Festival and other events we hope we can create a celebration all Tasmanians can enjoy," he said.
"We want to see 2020 out in style. It's been a difficult year for so many and we think this event will be a way for people to forget their troubles and start feeling optimistic about the New Year.
In other news:
"We also have some amazing and innovative food and beverage offerings but many of those will be dependent on support from the state government and local council."
The event will also have a focus on Tasmanian acts, including Chase City, Lazer Baby and Modern Opera.
The Taste of Tasmania will run a modified event this year, with the details yet to be confirmed, but this event is separate.
Tickets for the music event go on sale on Tuesday and will be $79 for general admission and $140 for VIP.
