A man who allegedly drove through Port Sorell hitting vehicles before crashing is in police custody.

Police said they received emergency calls on Thursday morning about a man allegedly carrying a knife and driving erratically in the Narawntapu National Park at about 9.45am.
"The man drove through Port Sorell, hitting multiple vehicles before crashing at the intersection of Wilmot and Griffiths Streets," police said.
In other news:
"He was safely taken into custody and disarmed by police officers a short time later."
Police said nobody was injured.
They said they were at the scene and investigating.
"Wilmot St is closed between Parkers Ford Rd and Kermode St to allow emergency services to undertake their investigations." police said.
"Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice."
