Josh Mahoney is the barber behind Mahni Hair Barber Studio, which officially opened its doors earlier this month.
Born and raised in Launceston, the 27-year-old has dreamed of opening his own business since starting his apprenticeship straight out of high school.

However, when he took the leap earlier this year and started putting his plan into practice, he was met with something he wasn't prepared for - coronavirus.
"We had just started looking for a lease and COVID hit," he said.
"We put the brakes on a little bit, but it just felt like if I didn't do it then, it wasn't going to happen. I was ready to go ... it was just a matter of hitting the dominos over and making it happen."
Fortunately, Mr Mahoney was able to secure a lease at 97 George Street.
"It used to be the old gun shop, the old sport site. It was originally built as a men's public bathroom. So it's got a bit of character," he said.
"The owners were willing to come to the table more, because of the pandemic.
"So in a way COVID formed a bit of a silver lining. I was able to make this happen with less of a financial risk."
While navigating the challenges of running a business, Mr Mahoney said he had received lots of support.
"I have been cutting hair in Launceston for a decade and I have developed a pretty loyal clientele.
"Plus more people are shopping local, a lot more people are taking pride in spending their money locally. I am really grateful for that."
