As reported in The Examiner earlier this week, the season will get under way with a round of cup matches on July 11 before league competitions begin the following week.

Leagues will wrap up in late October before the season concludes with cup semi-finals and finals.

Rosters will be released publicly next week.

Football Tasmania chief executive Matt Bulkeley said a shift to stage three restrictions on Friday - allowing for up to 500 people at a sport event - was cause for optimism for clubs.

"Football Tasmania advocated strongly for an early return to football training, spectators at games as well as funding support from the state government.

"These outcomes have put our organisation in a much stronger position to be able to provide financial assistance to our clubs and associations.

"By reducing our NPL licence fees, team nomination, referee and player registration fees, we are helping offset some of the challenges and ensure as many footballers as possible are able to get onto the pitch this year."

Referees have agreed to waive fees for practice matches over the coming weeks.
