The online exhibition features over 100 products from the Keep Cup to the kettle, and will launch on Thursday night with a message from curator Ian Wong.
The online launch will include the opportunity to question designers, and watch a timelapse walkthrough of the exhibition set up in the Design Tasmania building.
Susan Cohn, one of the designers whose work is features in the exhibition, said marrying aesthetics with practical use was the core of the excitement of design.

"Making inexpensive beautiful things is much harder than to do one-off art pieces," she said. "I wanted to take up that challenge."
Design Tasmania communications manager Clementine Blackman said the products of design were all around us, from cars and chairs to crosswalk buttons and powerboards.
"Many reach cult status and become becoming highly covetable and even collectable," she said.
"Some have pushed even further into our psyche and become 'iconic'."
