Local coach company, McDermott's have been providing Tasmanian's with luxury interstate and overseas holiday options for more than 30 years through its renowned Travel Club.

Like many tourism businesses, McDermott's were impacted by COVID-19, with travel restrictions and border closures bringing their business to a halt.

Managing director, Simon McDermott said the team used their time over lockdown to refocus and plan a new range of Tasmanian trips to make the most of what is on our doorstep.

"We are really excited to get back to business and get people back out travelling again," he said.

"Our travel itineraries have been designed to really make the most of what Tasmania has to offer, but we also want to get out and support the regions and businesses that have been affected by COVID."

Mr McDermott said they had worked hard with WorkSafe Tasmania to put in place a new COVID-safe plan, meaning that guests can travel in confidence knowing their health and safety is a priority, while still having an enjoyable time.

"We have a range of new protocols that have received the Worksafe tick of approval, these include increased frequency of our cleaning, promoting and following good hand hygiene and providing hand sanitiser.

"While there are no restrictions on how many people are in a vehicle, we are asking guests to spread out and utilise additional seating where possible.

"We want guests to travel in confidence with us, but we do ask if they are feeling unwell, even on the day of the trip not to come along, we will provide travel credit to allow them to rebook when they are feeling better."

McDermott's are renowned for their Travel Club that over the years has created fast friendships and a sense of community.

"Our Travel Club members have been the backbone of our business for a long time and have shown us so much support," Mr McDermott said.

"Many of our members live alone and have missed out on the companionship the club offers, even the social interaction of catching up with friends and going for a coffee.

"Even though we have some great Tasmanian destinations planned, I think they are all more excited to see one another!"

There has never been a better time to get out and discover Tasmania, and McDermott's pride themselves on offering hassle-free travel, the only thing you have to do is jump on board.

Their day trips to Cradle Mountain are a current highlight, offering free travel for kids, perfect for school holiday adventures. A full list of itineraries can be found at mcdermotts.com.au.
