Like a proud prized fighter, beaming over defending its title, it is time stand up and come out fighting again.

The State League season is still five weeks away from restarting from round three, but Cavaliers are making no excuses at the first bell back.

"I think Netball Tasmania has done really well considering the number of things we've had to put into place," Cavaliers coaching director Dannie Carstens said.

"The roster they have put together is really reasonable, with everybody playing each other twice really good.

"And the finals series is still good, but it's slightly different. It's new and it's nice to embrace something a little bit new."

The top two sides, which Cavaliers will be favoured to claim one of those two spots, will lose its double chance advantage in the semi-finals.

To condense the season into 16 more weeks after losing four months amid isolation, the finals series will run for two weeks in a knockout format among the top four.

"It feels like it is a long season already, even though it is only been two rounds," Carstens said.

"I think all things considered, even though the finals series is really different, it doesn't advantage those one and two teams in the big scheme of things. But I think for this year, why not?"

And Carstens said facing the Northern Hawks on the return was the ideal start.

"It has been a long, extended build-up to that rematch. It will feel totally different again with crowds and playing early in the day," she said.
