The funding will be provided to 32 projects, ranging in a variety of community-oriented initiatives such as employment, elder and youth assistance as well as support for individuals and their families exiting the criminal justice system..

Tasmania Community Fund chairperson Sally Darke said the fund entered its 20-year anniversary in 2020 and that it was important to continue to meet the changing needs of the Tasmanian community, and improving infrastructure is certainly one of those areas.

"It is important that we are able to meet the needs of our communities, and this round continues to show how the fund has adapted to meet these needs," Ms Darke said.

Grant recipients included the Bicheno Community Development Association, the Riverside Men's Shed and Regional Development Australia Tasmania.

"Some of the medium sized grants include a community bus for Bruny Island, a slipway upgrade at Cygnet, the construction of a Men's Shed at Riverside, much needed repairs to the Mole Creek swimming pool and a gym program at Tullah," Ms Darke said.

RDA Tasmania received $452,000.

Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone project officer Susie Bower said the funding will be for employing a Northern development workforce officer who will help match job seekers to future job demands.

"It will close the gap between the skills and attributes industry ... and the job seekers that are applying for the positions," Ms Bower said.

"The strength of the partnerships we have formed through the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone, RDA Tasmania and three local government areas put us in a really strong position to create opportunities for our communities to connect, engage and prosper."

Tasmania Community Fund was founded in 1999 from the remains of the Trust Bank.

In July, the fund will release grant rounds specifically aimed at COVID-19 relief for organisations recovering from the pandemic.
