Organisers of the 2020 Campbell Town Show, which was due to be held in May but was postponed due to Covid-19, are planning to hold a smaller version of the traditional show in December.

The longest running show in the Southern hemisphere, it was held during the Spanish flu pandemic in 1919, the two world wars, and the great depression, and it is now hoped to be held despite Covid-19.
Midland Agricultural Association acting president George Gatenby said the final green light for the event would depend on government advice following Covid-19 restrictions.
"We made an early call for the health of our patrons and exhibitors to postpone due to Covid-19. Now we are working towards an end of year show date of December 5," Mr Gatenby said.
"It would be a one day event, a lot smaller than our traditional shows, with perhaps five or six of the traditional events, but the committee is still working towards what that will look like.
"The best case scenario is that if Covid-19 doesn't enter the second phase, that the regulations do open up, and we can also hope to have our annual cocktail party or hold something similar, as well."
Events such as the equestrian, showjumping, working dogs and wool events would likely be held, whilst the traditional arts, crafts and trade exhibitions would not.
"The arts and crafts involves schools and the elderly, so we won't be running those, especially as it is the end of the school year...We hope to present a few of our annual trophies, and have a small formal ceremony to recognise the show for 2020. It will then be full steam ahead planning for the 20201 show in May next year.
"We will bring people back together to celebrate what the Midlands of Tasmania and the agricultural economy has to offer, and to say 'we are still here, we are surviving'."
Mr Gatenby said the society also had a recent win for the community with a $500,000 Regional Agricultural Show Development Grant for an upgrade of the L.A. Burbury Pavilion at the Campbell Town showgrounds.
The pavilion is used for a range of show events, including the shearing competition and the arts, crafts and fashion parades.
"The application is to provide a 270 seat multi-purpose function facility with new toilets and a commercial kitchen, and we are looking forward to implementing that," he said.
"We were meant to start this year within the next three weeks and finish this time next year. That is obviously not achievable."
