Perth experienced the worst air quality in Tasmania on Sunday night, recording a very poor air quality rating according to Tasmania's Environmental Protection Authority.

According to the state's Department of Health anything above 100 micrograms per cubic metre represents severe air pollution.
At 12am on Monday morning Perth recorded a reading of 250 micrograms per cubic metre.
IN OTHER NEWS:
From about 10pm, Sunday until about 3pm, Monday the town's particle pollution remained above 100.
This compares to Launceston's air quality, which remained poor, recording a maximum level of 75 on Sunday night.
Other areas of the state with the highest pollution included:
- Longford: 230 at 10pm, Sunday
- Hadspen: 195 at 12am, Monday
- Westbury: 140 at 11pm, Sunday

- Always burn with a flame - don't let your fire smoulder
- After reloading, open the air control and burn your fire on high for 20 minutes, especially before going to bed
- Only burn dry, seasoned wood
- Ensure your flue is clean
Prolonged exposure to smoke from wood heaters is a problem for people who have chronic illnesses like asthma and heart conditions.
