Playing his first game for the side back in round one, the 28-year-old former basketball prospect said the break has helped his side be ready.
"The break has been handy for a number of guys," he said on Thursday.
"When you've got shoulder operations, torn pecs, you'd assume you're going to miss half the year, knee injuries as well and these guys have been given a chance to get healthy and put their hands up again.
"There's certainly healthy competition and tomorrow night will be a real hit out for spots the following week so guys are fired up."
Admitting at times he still feels like a Crows player, having only played the one game due to the break, Greenwood has been training exclusively with the midfield group ahead of the season's resumption next week.

Having secured both the number one and two draft picks last season in Matthew Rowell and Noah Anderson, the recruit has strong faith in the club's depth in his new-found position.
"When you've got [Jack] Bowes and [Ben] Ainsworth playing back and forward which they can obviously play midfield (as well)," he said.
"We've got a lot of mids rotating through that group so there's a healthy competition for spots and with the practice match tomorrow night there will be guys going pretty hard.
"Obviously we'll miss Dave [Swallow] for Round 2 so that's a huge hole to fill and I'm sure there's a few boys wanting to put their hand up and take that spot."
WEBSTER READY
While several of Greenwood's Suns have been helped by the lengthy break, St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster has also been heavily assisted.
Dogged by injuries last season, the 26-year-old Glenorchy product missed round one with a back injury and looked to miss more football but is ready to rock, taking part in last week's match simulation.
If selected, the defender will line up against the Bulldogs next Sunday.
