The $100,000 initiative is being run by Tourism Northern Tasmania and is funded by Bell Bay Aluminium.
It will allow businesses to access free support to work through and establish a COVID safe business plan.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Low Head Tourist Park owner Sarah Hickling, who plans to access the program, said the extra support would help give her confidence she is complying with all the necessary guidelines.
"I do need a bit of help with the form," she said.
"There are a few questions on it [that make me think,] 'how do I answer this?'"
Tourism Northern Tasmania chief executive officer Chris Griffin said the COVID-19 Gold Standard program was about equipping businesses with the knowledge to met and exceed the minimum safety standards.
"The major challenges for us is to ensure businesses are complying and that they are aware of those obligations and how they present themselves and their business to the visitor market," he said.
He said the program was about assessing how all the different government regulations and stimulus packages apply to individual businesses.
"The task of the business coach is to work one on one with the business person and look at their context, look at their business and how these things apply to them so they can get the best benefit," Mr Griffin said.
"It is not just being compliant but it is how you present yourself as a safe place."
Mr Griffin said he expects the service will help hundreds of businesses.
"This is a program that will go for six months ... we are expecting to be in the hundreds but we are uncertain," he said.
Bell Bay Aluminium general manager Shona Markam said the company was proud to support businesses who weren't able to continue operating through the pandemic.
She said the program aligned with Rio Tinto's values on health and safety and flagged the prospect of further community investment.
