The season was scheduled to open before the Easter holidays but was delayed due to travel restrictions to coastal communities due to coronavirus.
The late start to the season has meant it will now be closed on November 30.

The D'Entrecasteaux Channel will stay closed this year due to stock depletion.
Primary Industries Minister Guy Barnett said the late season gave scallop dives the chance to gather scallops near their prime condition.
"Peak scallop meat recovery and roe condition is around July to September in Tasmanian waters and starts to taper off toward the end of the year," he said.
A recreational sea fishing licence is required to participate in the recreational scallop fishery.
Scallops may only be taken by hand.
Aboriginal people who fish for scallops for cultural purposes do not need a licence.
