A week after being given the green light provided they met strict criteria with their local authorities, Launceston City and Riverside Olympic announced they had received the approvals.

Both clubs swiftly shared the news with players and supporters on their Facebook pages.

In a post headlined "Return to training - APPROVED!!", Olympic said it was "with excitement" that they could announce their plan for a resumption of training at Windsor Park had been signed off by Football Tasmania and the West Tamar Council.

City management also declared themselves "pleased to announce" that a similar plan had been approved by both Football Tasmania and Meander Valley Council for Prospect Park.

Olympic's post added: "Our priority has always been the health and safety of our Riverside Olympic FC community, so the plans and protocols we have put in place will ensure this. We thank you for your patience.

"Social-distancing and hygiene habits are the new normal and we all need time to ensure our return to training plan and the associated processes are implemented and understood by all."

Both clubs said they had begun planning with coaches and formulated a timeline for which teams would return when.

They will instigate a staged process over the coming weeks.

City said this would begin with senior teams and some juniors from Monday (June 1) and stressed the club was practising a 'get in, train, get out' protocol.

Olympic said each age group and team would be contacted by their coaches when it is their time to return.

The club is aiming for a "mid-late June" re-start for juniors.

Only people directly involved are able to be around club grounds during training.

The return to competition is still being worked through with the relevant bodies in consultation with clubs.
