Brisbane's Tasmanian contingent have an interesting history with the annual big freeze event put together by Neale Daniher to raise awareness for those living with motor neurone disease and Robinson is now set to join the ranks.

Following in the footsteps of mentor Chris Fagan, who famously took the plunge in 2018 while dressed as reverend, rupturing his hamstring tendon in the process, Robinson was voted in by Lions fans.

Selected over Lachie Neale, Charlie Cameron and Dayne Zorko, the 30-year-old Lauderdale product was more than happy to take on the challenge.

"I thought I'd be a sneaky chance, I was hoping I'd win because I've watched this closely over the years and always wanted to get involved,'' he said.

"It's been coaches going down the slide in the past but once it was opened up to players, I really wanted the opportunity.''

Over the five-year history of the event, assorted sporting and media personalities have taken part in the slide, raising a substantial sum of money along the way.

Usually held before Collingwood and Melbourne's Queen's birthday clash, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the big freeze to be held differently, with players to participate in their home city.

While Nick Riewoldt stole the show with his Freddie Mercury-inspired costume last year, Robinson is hoping to take the cake in 2020.

"My uniform will be a fan favourite, let's just say my character has been much talked about."

Like Robinson, Brown was the runaway winner of a poll on North Melbourne's Facebook page, receiving more than 800 votes in his favour.

Former North Launceston young gun Tarryn Thomas, who recently drew comparisons to Kangaroos great Daniel Wells, was also a part of the poll but was spared thanks to Brown's popularity.

Other players announced so far include the likes of Patrick Cripps and Toby Greene.
