Magistrate Ken Stanton issued a warrant for the arrest of Elizabeth Anne Quill when she failed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday.

Ms Quill, 35, of Lalla, pleaded not guilty in November to a charge of causing the death of another person by driving negligently.

Court documents allege that Ms Quill failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep left of a dividing line and failed to take all reasonable precautions to avoid a collision.

She was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with amphetamine and methylamphetamine in her system.

Eighteen-year-old Jayden John Pearce was a passenger in a Kia Rio which collided head-on with the Ford Laser being driven by Ms Quill.

Since the crash, Ms Quill has been twice charged with driving under the influence of ice (methylamphetamine) in York street, Launceston, on November 28, 2019 and on the East Tamar Highway at Dilston on March 1, 2020.

The negligent driving charge was due to be heard yesterday but lawyer April van der Meer, appearing on behalf of defence counsel Greg Richardson, said she had no explanation for Ms Quill's non appearance.

The court heard that Mr Richardson had been unable to contact Ms Quill.

Crown prosecutor Emily Bill sought a warrant for Ms Quill's arrest.

Police prosecutor Mike Bonde asked that the subsequent drug driving charges be adjourned indefinitely.

The Examiner reported in 2018 that the crash occurred about 200 metres north of Wattle Ridge about 4pm.
