As well as previously offering free phone sessions, the University Psychology Clinic has expanded therapy sessions to include sessions via video.

The telehealth services compose of private consultations with psychologists from a person's home - the services can be accessed via GP or specialist referral, or by self-referral.

The UPC is a clinic for training fifth or sixth-year provisionally registered psychologists from UTAS.

The clinic can assist in a number of psychological issues such as depression, anxiety, family problems, loneliness or isolation.

UPC clinic manager Dr Tracey Dean said the service, like many healthcare providers, had been looking at ways to still be available for those who needed assistance.

"We had to act quickly to get telehealth up and running to provide assistance to people during the pandemic," Dr Dean said.

"As we know this may be a time of increased stress and feelings of isolation.

"However, telehealth will also provide an opportunity for people living in rural and remote regions of Tasmania and those with transport difficulties, to access psychology services from our clinic, so this will be a valuable service into the future."
