Police will now be able to issue on-the-spot fines to people who contravene coronavirus restrictions under the Public Health and Emergency Management acts.

Up until now, police were only able to issue a warning, summons a person to appear in court, or make an arrest.
A person can now be charged a $756 fine on the spot for breaking the rules.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Jonathan Higgins conceded there was always confusion when restrictions were relaxed or when new rules were put in place.
"I see it as our role to help the community through this," he said.
"We will act when people call in to question whether compliance is being adherred to."
Mr Higgins said there had been 13,400 compliance checks on individuals required to quarantine since March 25.
"So far, there have been more than 3700 compliance checks carried out in the south, 2700 in the north and 7000 in the north-west," he said.
"A majority of Tasmanians have been adhering with the rules."
He said motorists could still expect to be pulled over by police and questioned about their activity.
