Parry Property estate agent Jodie Faulkner sold two properties in Bridport within 10 days - one valued about $1.4 million and the other $2 million. Both buyers for the properties were North East residents.

"I'm an active agent - both the properties I sold weren't on the open market for sale, I've sourced these properties for buyers," she said.

Both sales broke the record for the highest sold house in Bridport, with the previous record being $1.1 million in 2017.

Ms Faulkner said the sales showed the real estate market is still lively, and agents being proactive in their approach to selling was important no more than ever.

April figures released by the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania have revealed a tough month for the market amid the coronavirus pandemic.

REIT chief executive Mandy Welling said in the report that the latest figures were the lowest they've been since 2013.

Figures have indicated a drop of 27.5 per cent drop in house sales across April. The Launceston area led the way with a 39 per cent drop on the month.

However, housing prices in Launceston only dropped by 0.8 per cent. Vacant land sales in the state were up compared to last year, increasing by 1.6 per cent.

Ms Welling said in the report that there had been an "obvious" easing in sales for homes valued $500,000 and over.

However, properties continued to be sold on average 1.7 per cent more than the asking price. Local buyers were the majority demographic at 48.9 per cent, followed by interstate buyers at 16.1 per cent.
