Tasmania Police is looking into a motorcycle crash that happened on Crown land near Mayfield on Sunday.

The incident occurred about 4.30pm, and involved a 35-year-old Mowbray man who received serious injuries, according to police.
Police said the rider was travelling in a southerly direction when he lost control, rode down an embankment and collided with a tree.

Police said the bike was an unregistered Thumpstar trail bike, and the 35-year-old rider was unlicensed.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

The rider was transported to the Launceston General Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
Tasmania Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the rider around the time of the crash to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
