Filling the void for famished sports fans, the Eseries has seen the Supercars' regular roster of drivers virtually battle it out on tracks around the world against a selection of guest stars, with Ambrose to be no different.

The 43-year-old will race in a car with the same design as his 2004 championship-winning Ford Falcon but will do so on his most-successful NASCAR circuit, Watkins Glen, where he won consecutive races in 2011 and 2012.

"I have done a bit of iRacing in the past, but I might have to do a bit of work in the next few days to make sure I am up to speed."
Last season's Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin has taken his real-life form to the virtual track, leading the championship by 89 points to Cameron Waters and 133 to Shane Van Gisbergen as Kiwis dominate the competition ahead of Wednesday's fourth round.
