Zookeeper Bridie Slattery said a number of Tasmanian devils have also been born in recent months, but they will be counted once they leave their mothers' pouches around September.
She said the baby capybaras - the world's largest rodent, native to South America - were fitting in well with the group.
"Mum will take care of the babies, but the whole group is really protective of them," she said.
"Out in the wild all the females actually team up and have babies together, and they have a bit of a day care situation where the babies will be all in one spot, nice and safe from predators."
The zoo is closed but it's still a full-time job for staff to feed and clean all the animals.
As it relies heavily on money from customers, the zoo is now dependent on community donations through a gofundme page, au.gofundme.com/f/help-save-tasmania039s-only-zoo
"The donations helped massively - we've had donations of all types: bedding, produce, money, meat for the carnivores," Ms Slattery said.
"Food is our biggest spender, and there's still a lot that we need because they're all obviously ongoing costs."
