Magistrate Ken Stanton was due to hand down his decision on Friday but the matter has been adjourned until May 26 at 2.15pm.
In a charge brought by the Local Government Division of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet Mr Archer has pleaded not guilty to illegally disclosing information.

Prosecutors allege Mr Archer, 69, of Bridport, disclosed to a newspaper, the North Eastern Advertiser, sensitive financial documents about the operations of the Aminya aged care facility at Scottsdale.
Dorset Mayor Greg Howard told the court that the documents came from a closed session of the council.
However, Mr Archer says the documents were in the public arena and were not marked confidential.
"I maintain that all the information I gave is available elsewhere and specifically to an incorporated association called North-East Care, which has 100 members of the public," he said in evidence.
