In the third of a series of previews on the NTFA's women's competition,The Examiner looks at Old Launcestonians as they look to take the next step in the league - making finals.
Coach: Mathew Murfett continues his role as head coach. The Old Launcestonians senior player loses co-coach Kate McLaughlin who has moved back to New Zealand but will gain Jesse Denholm to assist.
Captain: Emma Price will continue her role as captain from last season. The leader set the bar in 2019, named in the best players eight times.
2019 finish: Sixth - four wins, six losses. The Blues picked up an early upset over Scottsdale and defeated Meander Valley twice but a loss to Old Scotch cost them dearly in the long run.
Ins: Marlia Richardson (Meander Valley), Caitlyn Webster (Meander Valley), Danielle Kelly (Scottsdale), Kelsie Bartlett (North Launceston), Hayley Brimfield (North Launceston), Cassie Burnett (North Launceston), Meg Cornish (North Launceston), Madison Colvin (North Launceston), Amber Donnelly (North Launceston), Rachel Stewart (NWFL), Jane Astbury (Victoria), Brittany Brown, Emma Dwyer, Jessica Jamieson, Grace Lawes, Hannah Lee, Taylah Lehman, Samantha Lockett, Elouise Scott, Kate Von Stieglitz.
Outs: Kate McLaughlin (New Zealand), Kate Minchin (Scottsdale), Bec Clifton (Hobart).
Who's impressed: "For us in the couple of practice matches we had, Kate Von Stieglitz really stood out as a new one," Murfett said.
"This was her first year of football and she really stood out in the practice matches.
"Georgia Fulton is one who came back from last year and was really good in the practice matches as well Meg Cornish from North who showed a lot of skill and leadership."
Coach says: "Finals is definitely the goal for us this year. I think we've improved as a team and some of those top teams have come back down a little bit so finals is definitely a goal.
"Everyone has settled in really well, the existing group of girls we have are really friendly and welcoming so the new girls have just fitted in alongside that.
"For us during pre-season, the focus was mainly on skill development. We've still got a lot of girls that are either playing for the first time this year or it's only their second year having started with us last year so a majority of the group are still pretty raw when it comes to actual skills.

"We've given them access to the club's balls if they have someone at home that they can just do some ball work with or something like that."
