The We Can Do Better campaign argues that a venison industry would prevent 15,000 deer carcasses from being left to rot on farms.

The campaign wants the state government to change its deer policy which currently only allows culled deer to be used for private consumption, and stop feral population growth.
"There is not enough incentive for hunters to help farmers manage the problem.
"A viable commercial industry can stop this waste ... the commercial use of culled deer will not affect rights of recreational shooters."
