Coles began limiting customer numbers and making customers line up outside, if the shop reached its capacity, on Monday at its Launceston stores.
Each store has different customer limit figures depending on its size.

The customer limitations are a part of measures already being taken by supermarket chains to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 such as extra cleaning, social distancing rules and customer's packing their own groceries.
Woolworths promised it may limit customers inside its stores this Easter but this has yet to come into play in Launceston.
Both supermarkets are offering pick up and delivery services for vulnerable people during the pandemic.

Vulnerable people include seniors, people with a disability, those with compromised immunity or who are required to self isolate.
Woolworths is offering a basic box and Coles is offering a community box for customers who are deemed vulnerable members of the community or who are in isolation. Both are $80 and are full of food, snacks and other essentials and will be delivered.
Woolworths introduced community pick up to allow more vulnerable customers to place an order online and arrange for friends, families or neighbours to pick it up on their behalf.
Coles introduced its online priority service for vulnerable customers to buy everyday grocery essentials and have them delivered to their home.
