Coronavirus: All the latest updates on COVID-19 for Tasmania
Visitors remain banned from facilities, and both sentenced prisoners and those on remand are screened before entering Risdon Prison Complex.
"To ensure the safety of everyone involved and to assist with the appropriate management of prisoners, the Tasmania Prison Service has adopted a process of asking standard COVID-19 screening questions on their arrival into custody," a department spokesman said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"If a person is identified as a potential risk as a result of the screening process they will be placed into isolation and managed appropriately by TPS and health staff.
"Appropriate PPE equipment is provided as required."
Corrections Minister Elise Archer said last week TPS had put "strict measures" in place, and those measures would continue to be assessed throughout the crisis.
"More than 1000 face masks will be made available and the TPS has also increased the amount of regular cleaning within its facilities," she said.
Staffing numbers at the prison will also increase, after 40 correctional officers completed their training.
They will start work with TPS this week.
