With more Western Australians households expected to go solar, a road map to determine ways to better integrate renewable energy devices has been launched by the state government.

The Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Roadmap will outline actions to be taken over the next five years to meet challenges with small scale-devices, like rooftop solar panels, batteries, electric vehicles and microgrids.
These actions include pilots that determine ways to overcome technical, regulatory and market barriers to integrate DERs into the grid.
Almost one-in-three households in Western Power's South West Interconnected System have solar panels, with that number expected to reach one-in-two over the next decade.
Energy minister Bill Johnston said the roadmap would allow for more renewable energy to feed into the grid.
"Building a responsive and resilient power system will allow us to successfully manage risks over time," Mr Johnston said.
"It is a robust plan for a brighter energy future."
Energy Policy WA, Western Power, Horizon Power, Synergy and the Australian Energy Market Operator are working together to implement the road map.
