Both Clover Hill and Victorian-based Taltarni vineyards will be offering virtual cellar door experiences for customers to still get the full wine tour experience.

Tasting classes and information sessions will be hosted by wine educator Ian White.

"The idea is to try and give a similar experience virtually as we would do at the cellar door," Mr White said.

"There are a series of short videos we've done including individual masterclasses about the range of wines we carry."

Clover Hill and Taltarni chief executive Adam Torpy said the new platform was an easy way for people to learn more about the processes and people behind the wine.

Customers will be given access to a virtual 'masterclass kit', which includes guides and activities for tasting their wine.

The virtual experiences also include conversations with vineyard managers and learning more about the wine-making process, but from a distance.

Clover Hill and Taltarni club members are also offered exclusive bonuses including access to weekly live forums with people from both vineyards.

"It's a little bit weird, but one of the things we're trying to do is make it as interactive as possible," Mr White said.

"[We're] giving them the option to comment on a live feed, I'll be asking some trivia type questions for people to get involved in."

Mr White said the virtual additions were something the vineyard had been planning to do, however the emergence of COVID-19 had resulted in it being a priority addition.

"We're always getting asked for information about the wine-making and viticultural process and now we're trying to communicate that as best as possible," he said.
